Senior Thunderbird, Ryan Cheng gives back to local Vancouver Running Community
This December, Senior Thunderbird sprint/hurdle specialist, Ryan Cheng (coached by Andrew Cooke) embraced the true meaning of Christmas, by giving back to his local Vancouver running community, and in particular, to the Thunderbirds Track and Field Club. Cheng, or "Chengman" as he is known through his sensational Youtube Channel which holds nearly 250,000 followers, teamed up with Hyundai Canada's #spreadthewarmth campaign, to donate $1000 of warm running clothing to local Vancouver runners, spreading joy and spontaneity along Vancouver's Seawall, Stanley Park, Jericho Beach, and around the UBC area.
Further, Cheng decided to team up with Hyundai Canada by sponsoring two developmental Thunderbird athletes, covering their 2018 membership fees, as well as decking them out in a head-to-toe Nike track outfits and sneakers. Congratulations to Brayden Horlock (Coach:Graeme Fell), and new Thunderbird Long Jump member, Michael Kheong (Coach: Byron Jacks) on your sponsorship selections!
As a Club which believes strongly in the importance of physical literacy, and works tirelessly to provide more Track and Field opportunities across the Vancouver region both within Schools and amongst local communities, we cannot thank Ryan or Hyundai Canada enough for this incredible gesture, and donation! Your time and commitment to the sport and those in need has not gone unnoticed.
