Thunderbirds Brave the conditions at annual Gunner Shaw XC

While for most runners the cross-country season has come to an end, some die-hard TBIRDs took to the country again this past Saturday for what is traditionally one of the more testing, wettest and muddiest races; the Gunner Shaw. The 5K and 10K multi-age, mixed races, which took place at Jericho Park, featured thirteen of the club’s toughest runners. In the 5K, Yabi Davidoff was the first TBIRD home in 6th place overall. Harris Boomer took 11th, Ben Smith 12th, Simon McCutcheon and Kelly Keats finished together taking 15th and 16th, with Ava Forsyth not far behind in 17th. Charlotte Lang took 19th, Tamara Hamze 24th, Michael Lam 25th, and Emma McCutcheon 38th. When sorted into their respective age groups: Yabi, Harris, Simon, Ava, Charlotte, and Tamara all earned top place finishes; Emma, Kelly and Ben took 2nd spots; and Michael took third. Three of the TBIRDS decided to run the longer event: Coach Eric Wynands finished 3rd, followed home closely by Evan Miller in 4th (1st in his age group), and Taylor DeWitt in 39th; Taylor taking 1st in her age group and 4th overall in the women's race.

Congratulations to all of the TBIRDS for competing so well, and for Coach Eric who warmed-up the group prior to the event.
